My 99% project came about as a result of watching everyday people going about their jobs, raising families and working in the community. So, I came up with the idea of setting up a tent and giving away prints. "Would you like a free photo, with an instant 4x6 print?" As the project came to life, I had my doubts. Would anyone respond to a free giveaway in exchange for allowing me to use their photograph? But after 20 days at 40 different locations, I had 5,820 portraits of our Americans. I ask that you don't judge them on physical appearances, but as our Thanksgiving family of humanity.
